home sweet home (temporarily)...
well, we are still in the el reno area of oklahoma. we went to check on loki this morning and he seems to be improving, but the vet says that his liver is still not exactly as it should be. he will continue to stay at the animal clinic and we will check on him again tomorrow and hope for the best. loki looked much better to nancy and i and seemed more alert. follow the blog for breaking news of our little guy.
today was not too interesting and exciting. we found the only quilting shop in el reno in the downtown area and i know nancy appreciated the break in schedule to go visit with other quilters and see yet another quilting supplier. el reno is kind of like mayberry, nc; not technologically superior, but more like a down-to-earth place to live. they even have an old movie theatre downtown (see photo). while nancy was in the quilt shop, i thought that i would go get the battery replaced in my pocket watch at a jewelry store across the street from the quilt shop. they were able to take the back off the watch, but then couldn't get the back on again; it took about 30 minutes, but finally i was on my way. we are not sure what to do tomorrow, as there are a limited number of sights to see in el reno. the vet suggested that we could drive out north of town about 10 miles and see a bison herd. we'll have to see about that. one area of interest in the area is that "historic route 66" parallels much of interstate-40, so a short drive west we could visit a route 66 museum. okay, but for now we are back home in the trailer; our home-away-from-home, or home sweet home, as we know it so well these days. from el reno, oklahoma, this is your roving reporter signing off...
